At both Princeton and Trinity, twenty-four hour emergency departments are fully staffed. Medical, Surgical and Coronary Intensive Care Units, computerized tomography, cardiac catheterization, angiographic, nuclear medicine and gastrointestinal laboratories are available at each campus. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) devices are also operational at each facility, as are cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation units and active Hospice programs. Trinity and Princeton medical staffs represent every major speciality.

Princeton Baptist Medical Center

On its beautiful campus located just four miles west of the downtown Birmingham business district, Princeton Baptist, a 499-bed tertiary hospital, has been a ministry of the Birmingham Baptist Association since 1922. Conveniently accessible from I-65 and I-59, Princeton Baptist is the most convenient hospital to western Jefferson County. In addition to its acute care beds, ICU/step-down beds and a full service emergency department, several medical office buildings in the Princeton Baptist footprint provide our patients with access to excellent primary care physicians and specialists.

 Princeton Baptist Strengths:
  • Nursing care: Compassionate bedside nursing and an active involvement with nurse education has been a Princeton strength since 1922. Twelve nurse education programs now contract with Princeton as a clinical partner.

  • Physician expertise: The Princeton medical staff is a diverse staff of more than 390 physicians who are committed to continuous learning. Princeton is home to nationally well-respected residency programs in Pathology, Radiology, Medicine, Surgery and Transitional Year. This active intellectual environment contributes to Princeton's earned reputation for state-of-the-art care. Whether the focus is care for women and infants, cardiac care, minimally invasive surgery, breast care, wound care, hyperbaric medicine, cancer care or emergency care, physician care at Princeton is excellent.

  • A teaching environment: Princeton Baptist is a training site for many healthcare programs other than nursing and medical care. One particularly special teaching relationship is with the Auburn School of Pharmacy. Princeton Baptist is one of only five sites in Alabama where Auburn assigns a faculty member to train Pharm.D. and post-Pharm.D. Fellows in a clinical setting.

  • Technical expertise: Princeton Baptist is an enterprise partner for General Electric diagnostic imaging. In other words, General Electric medical brings prospective clients to Princeton to show how excellent equipment in the hands of well-trained staff and physicians can improve both patient diagnosis and efficiency.

  • Holistic approach to patient care: Most importantly, we at Princeton Baptist consider our healthcare services as a calling to ministry. Our chaplains, our medical staff, and our associates approach patient care as an opportunity for service.

Princeton firsts and significant accomplishments:

  • Princeton is one of the largest employers in western Birmingham with 1400 employees.

  • Princeton has one of the largest and most active cardiology programs in Alabama.

  • Princeton was the first site in Alabama to install and use the 3T MRI for clinical applications.

  • Princeton was the first hospital in the city to use the HANA orthopedic table which allows for anterior hip replacement surgery.

  • In October 2007, Princeton was named one of the Birmingham Business Journals' Best Places to Work - the only hospital named that year.

  • Between November 2007 and April 2008, Princeton received five awards from the American Heart Association's Get with the Guidelines for excellence in cardiac care (Gold, Silver and Bronze performance awards).

  • Princeton was the first hospital in Birmingham to acquire the daVinci surgical robot with HD viewing capability.

  • In April of 2009, Princeton received unanimous approval from the state CON review board for its $75 million campus renovation and investment.
