Brookwood Baptist Health: The Next Step in Your Journey

We welcome your interest in the Brookwood Baptist Health residency programs! Medical education is an integral part of the overall mission at Brookwood Baptist Health (BBH).

BBH recognizes that the academic environment fosters clinical excellence and that bright, inquisitive, and energetic resident physicians and students further the culture of excellence at our institutions. Brookwood Baptist Health demonstrates its commitment to medical education by allocating extensive resources to support strong postgraduate training programs, outstanding student clerkships, and high quality continuing medical education.

Our residency programs are conducted at two tertiary care teaching hospitals in Birmingham, Alabama: Princeton Baptist Medical Center on the West side of Birmingham and Grandview Medical Center on the South side of the city. Both hospitals are large, progressive, fully-accredited institutions, which serve diverse, yet complementary patient populations because of their own unique histories, demographics, and referral patterns.

Our core faculty are fully committed to providing the best education possible for our resident physicians. In addition, more than 240 clinician educators, across the two facilities, devote their expertise as faculty members so that we can realize our collective goal of graduating resident physicians who provide exceptional patient care and become leaders in their specialties.

We believe that the learning environment at BBH is among the best anywhere. Professional and personal support for our residents is readily available through Medical Education offices at both locations, and our resident lounges, call areas, classrooms, and computer labs are comfortable and well-maintained. Excellent medical libraries, which complement the strong ancillary services at our institutions, are also available at both hospitals.

BBH residents are actively involved in scholarly activity including the preparation of case reports, original quality improvement projects or clinical research as part of our annual intramural research competition. They are also encouraged to submit their work for extramural publication.

We invite your inquiries and application to our residency programs. At BBH, our residents thrive on the personal attention that they receive. Because of the size of our classes and the culture of our organization, residents know one another and their attending physicians well, providing for an opportunity to develop life-long professional relationships. We know that you have many options for your graduate medical education, and we are glad that you are considering Brookwood Baptist Health. We are confident that BBH can be the place where you will achieve your greatest potential as a resident physician!

We look forward to meeting you!
