Transitional Year

Welcome Message from the Program Director

Dear Prospective Residents,
Welcome to the Transitional Year Residency Program at Brookwood Baptist Health!

As the TY Program Director, I am delighted to introduce you to a transformative year that serves as a gateway to your future specialty training. Our Transitional Year Program is thoughtfully crafted to provide you with a broad-based clinical experience, laying a solid foundation for your future.

Located in the vibrant city of Birmingham, our program offers an enriching environment where you can thrive both professionally and personally. I have served as core faculty for both the Transitional Year and Internal Medicine programs since 2019. I can confidently say that the dynamic healthcare communities of both Princeton Baptist Medical Center and Grandview Medical Center create an ideal setting for your transitional year.

Here, you will engage in a variety of rotations across different specialties, allowing you to gain valuable insights and skills that are crucial for your future specialization. We pride ourselves on offering many options for your elective rotations. We have dedicated, full-time core faculty and many volunteer faculty who are committed to guiding you through this pivotal year.

Birmingham, Alabama is such a fun place to live. There is always something to do, places to explore, and new restaurants to try. On a personal note, I am married to my wonderful husband Zach, who is also a physician. We have two children and enjoy spending time outdoors, especially on water at the lake or the beach!

Please explore our website and discover how our Transitional Year Residency can help you meet your goals. I look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to our BBH family.

My best,

Lauren Lavender Pacheco, MD FACP
